Hungary is a warm and welcoming country with a proud history. In one trip, travelers can soak in hot thermal baths, cruise the Danube River, and visit a grand riverside Parliament. Hungary is good value and full of flavor.
Below are the top 5 destinations that make Hungary a perfect pick for your next holiday.

The Hungarian Parliament is a huge Gothic-style building on the banks of the Danube. It is beautiful by day, and even more special when it glows at night.

On the hill above the river, Buda Castle and the white towers of Fisherman's Bastion give some of the best views of the city.

The Széchenyi Baths are big yellow buildings with steamy outdoor pools. Visitors soak in warm mineral water sometimes while playing chess even in cold winter weather.

Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe. In summer, it is full of swimmers, sailors, and beach fun, and the hills around it grow wine grapes.

Eger is a small baroque town with a hilltop castle, a minaret, and pretty squares. It is also famous for the red wine Bull's Blood and the wine cellars of the Valley of the Beautiful Women.

Planning a trip to Hungary? Whether you need a visa depends on the passport you hold, not on where you live. If your passport requires a Schengen visa, you apply for a short-stay (Type C) visa that lets you stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Hungary has applied Schengen rules since 2007. Most travellers fly into Budapest or another major city, and the visa works across the whole Schengen area.

The exact list depends on your nationality, job and travel plans, and the consulate can ask for more. We check your documents against the current requirements before you apply.
