Italy is one of the most loved countries in the world. In one trip, travelers can walk through ancient Roman ruins, float on the canals of Venice, see Renaissance art, and drive along sea-view cliffs - all while enjoying pizza, pasta, and gelato.
Below are the top 5 destinations that make Italy a perfect pick for your next holiday.

The Colosseum is a giant stone arena that is almost 2,000 years old. Long ago, crowds came here to watch shows and games. Today, it is the top symbol of Ancient Rome.

Venice is a unique city built on water, with canals instead of roads. Visitors can ride a gondola, walk through St. Mark's Square, and get lost in the tiny streets and bridges.

Florence is where the Renaissance began. Visitors can see the huge red dome of the Duomo, great paintings in the Uffizi Gallery, and Michelangelo's famous David statue.

The Amalfi Coast has colorful villages like Positano clinging to high cliffs above the sea. The area is famous for lemon groves, fresh seafood, and beautiful sea-view roads.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a bell tower that famously tilts to one side. It stands with a beautiful cathedral and baptistery on a green square called the Piazza dei Miracoli.

Planning a trip to Italy? Whether you need a visa depends on the passport you hold, not on where you live. If your passport requires a Schengen visa, you apply for a short-stay (Type C) visa that lets you stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Italy has applied Schengen rules since 1997. Most travellers fly into Rome or another major city, and the visa works across the whole Schengen area.

The exact list depends on your nationality, job and travel plans, and the consulate can ask for more. We check your documents against the current requirements before you apply.
