Sweden is a calm, clean, and creative country. In one trip, travelers can stroll through an old town on an island, see a 400-year-old warship, and watch the Northern Lights in the far north.
Below are the top 5 destinations that make Sweden a perfect pick for your next holiday.

Gamla Stan is Stockholm's medieval old town, built on a small island. It has narrow cobbled streets, colorful buildings, cozy cafés, and the Royal Palace.

The Vasa was a huge warship that sank on its first trip in 1628. It was raised from the sea and is now one of the best-preserved old ships in the world, kept inside a special museum.

In far northern Sweden, visitors can see the Northern Lights in the dark months, try dog sledding, and stay at the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, which is rebuilt from ice each winter.

Visby is a walled medieval town on the island of Gotland. Its stone walls, rose-covered lanes, and church ruins feel like a step back in time, with sandy beaches nearby.

Near Gothenburg, a group of small islands is easy to reach by ferry. Visitors can swim, cycle, walk on smooth rocks, and enjoy fresh shrimp and seafood.

Planning a trip to Sweden? Whether you need a visa depends on the passport you hold, not on where you live. If your passport requires a Schengen visa, you apply for a short-stay (Type C) visa that lets you stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Sweden has applied Schengen rules since 2001. Most travellers fly into Stockholm or another major city, and the visa works across the whole Schengen area.
Swift Holidays is a UK-registered travel company. We help you check your documents, book your appointment and arrange the insurance and travel reservations your application needs.
The exact list depends on your nationality, job and travel plans, and the consulate can ask for more. We check your documents against the current requirements before you apply.

Processing normally takes 10 to 15 working days after you submit your application, and can take longer in busy periods. Appointments can be booked out for weeks, so start early.
You can apply up to 6 months before your trip. It is best to apply at least 3 to 4 weeks before you travel, and not to pay for non-refundable travel until your visa is approved.
Apply to the country where you will spend the most nights. If your time is split equally, apply to the country you enter first. If Sweden is your main destination, you apply for Sweden.
